Christmas Eve in My (Other) Hometown!

Tonight’s entry is a special nod to all my family and friends overseas!! I love you all heaps and will see you soon!

Cameron and I are so fortunate to have all these gifts around us here in Australia this Christmas Eve of 2004! Going picture-crazy tonight..it’s quicker than drawing it all, especially in one night! And this particular night!

This is the Christmas Eve sky over the garden and our rooftop (A.K.A. Where Santa and the reindeer will be landing with a “click click click” and possibly a horrendous clatter, since ringtailed possums happen to sound just like elephants!):

Gifts from my family in the States, including a gorgeous brooch which I’ll be wearing Christmas Day, and some fun & cheery “Christmas Stockings!” Whee!:

And our real stockings, gifts from Uncle Tim and Aunt Marie a few years ago, hung on the fireplace mantle. (With care!) We are lucky enough to live in a house, where, even in summer, we can have a very wintery feeling if it’s a chilly night!:

Our pretty little tree, which was 100% free, since there is a huge pine lot on the property. (Coincidentally, most of them were planted about 50 years ago, intended for sale as Christmas trees, but now are all skinny and amazingly tall, like giant matchsticks!):

Almost all of our Christmas ornaments are gifts from family and friends over the years. (You know who you are and what these gifts mean to us!!) How wonderful!:

And the picture just wouldn’t be complete without the gift of our beautiful pups! After his family had gone to bed tonight, Goldie sauntered into the house and we doubled over with laughter at his Dickensian appearance. I took one look at the beautiful caramel-colored bow around his collar, grabbed Gus, plunked a green ribbon on him and bribed them both, with salami, to sit still in front of the tree for a minute or two. We were all very pleased with the results. ‘Twould’ve made a great family card…maybe we’ll use it next year? But it looks like there just won’t be any Danish Salami for Santa by the tree this Christmas Eve! Oh well!:

~Merry Christmas to All and To All A Good Night!!!!~

You saw them? YAYYY!!! Sooo cool!!! How was it?

We got the new album (FINALLY) for Christmas from Cam’s parents..listening to it now! They are coming here in April/May I think!! Wheeee. So, fingers crossed….. I think Cameron’s gonna get in touch with Ken soon.
Oooh..we’ll have to give you details about the guitar and stuff. He said he loves it..used it on his recordings and at all his live shows!! I’ll email some pics. I will run this by everyone first, but, I’d really love to do an entry about that project on here!
    Oki..enough for tonight…
    ..love you guys!

****And..just thinking now..if anyone dislikes that I use this blog as a quick email thing-o, please let me know. I still keep personal emails one-on-one, though they are less frequent. It’s just that if I do it this way for general things, there’s more of a chance that I’ll be in touch! But I understand if you’d rather get private emails****

  5. Cameron (the other one) Says:

Dear Amy, I hope you and Cameron had a very very happy Christmas and here’s wishing you and yours a splendiferous fantabulous New Year 2005!
Take care and all the best, and thank you so much for your encouragement and support with my photography this last year. You are the best!

  6. Amy Says:

    Kirsten!!
Hope your holidays have been great too! A very Happy New Year to you and Guy from Cameron and myself!! Thanks for popping in to visit!! Cam said somewhere down the track there will probably be a resurrection of the Auto Board, or a new and better site… no timeline on that yet…he just said to tell you "later on this year".

Anyway..cheers to you and anyone else out there in R.E.M.-land!

    Cameron!!
Aww..thanks! And the same to you, Jane and the girls!!
Anytime..that’s not lip service either. I think you’ve got amazing photos..I’m still waiting for the gallery showing and the book launch!!
Oh yeah, and Cam’s doing some research on his Scottish roots (The McFarlanes). I remembered that you wore a kilt when you got married. So, he was curious and asked if you could please let him know your Clan and the tartan you wore? Email me if you want, or post it here, and I’ll pass that along..thanks!!
    Anyway..take care!

This is a late entry but just wanted to say how lovely your fireplace and mantel look and what a nice Christmas tree you found this year. Your ornaments are so pretty and chosen with care by your friends and family. The night time sky "down under" is quite beautiful, isn’t it? xxxooo

  8. Amy Says:
