One Older, but Much Beloved, Illustration
My 1999 illustration of Robert Louis Stevenson’s (1850-1894) Poem, A Good Play, from A Childs Garden of Verses. _circa 1913_
A Good Play
We built a ship upon the stairs
All made of the back-bedroom chairs,
And filled it full of sofa pillows
To go a-sailing on the billows.
We took a saw and several nails,
And water in the nursery pails;
And Tom said, Let us also take
An apple and a slice of cake;
Which was enough for Tom and me
To go a-sailing on, till tea.
We sailed along for days and days,
And had the very best of plays;
But Tom fell out and hurt his knee,
So there was no one left but me.

Hi Amy! Thanks for popping by notReality again, I’m glad to see your site up after a little hiatus too (I know it’s been functioning again for a while, I’ve just been a bit slack, sorry) – In case you missed it, I found that photo I was talking about that I thought you might like – here: Red Hairbrush
I’m glad you’ve been happy and healthy and have found a direction to go with your life, more power to you! I will email you this week. Take care mate, I’m hoping to see you before you leave Australia.

Thanks Cameron,
I really appreciate that, and that IS one that I’m interested in having as a reminder of good friends. I’m hoping so too. Off to check out your site now!

Sorry Amy, I tried to do a html link to the hairbrush pic and the comment system didn’t recognise that, then it wouldn’t let me comment again, thinking I was SPAM! I’m not Spam – I’m CAM! ;-)>
