O Give Me A Home, Where the Kangaroo Roam…

The view of my studio window and doors from the backyard. Excuse the hastiness of it, but it was kinda chilly outside today:

Been easing into my routine here in Wonga Park. I’ve been waking up early and doing my morning pages as I’m serenaded by the bellbirds, kookaburras, magpies, and various other birds. Then Gus and I head off for our lovely walk, spotting horses, ducks, heron, and cockatoos. The hills are green and rolling, and the sky is bright and wide. Gathering some Spring flowers such as plumeria, snowbells, and camellias to cheer the window sills in the kitchen and bathroom. Such things I’ve missed while away, and it sure is good to have them again.
On Wednesday we’re headed to a photography exhibition of Adrian’s, Monday we’re going to a local residents environmental meeting, and Saturday will be a family lunch at Mum and Dad’s, then a party at Daniel’s! Whoo! Lots going on..should be fun.

Just have to add that the Sydney to Melbourne leg of the trip home was splendidly gorgeous! Saw a great view of the Sydney Opera House as we took off, then over the sea which melted right into clouds on the horizon. After that were the soft folds of tree capped mountains and a huge swarth of snow fields. The rivers and lakes cut up the landscape into intricate patterns, and as we were landing we cut through wisps of cloud to reveal the red tile roofs of Melbourne. That makes taking 4 flights, rather than 2, worth it!

So, it’s studio season again. I’ll have to cook up some new projects to work on. In the meantime, it’s just getting back into the habit of daily drawings. I’m a little rusty, but it’ll fall into place once I practice more. Think I’ll be finishing that series of chairs I started last year. It’ll be good to complete some things that were left half-finished. But for now, I’ll head off to bed…time to dream up some plans for the future!
