In Like a Lamb
And a very happy March to you!
I’m sure many of you can just taste Spring around the corner. Hence the new flowered banner and fresh colours! Meanwhile, down in the Southern Hemisphere, we’re enjoying the cooler temps yet soaking up the nice energy of the sun (in healthy doses). I’ve put off walking for various reasons over the summer, none of them very good, so I’m making walking a priority. While I may drag my feet at first, I’m sure I’ll be loving it and the benefits it brings pretty soon.
Had a good day today..went into the city to have a medical exam for the immigration process, and on the way home we stopped in at Worco to see Alastair and Warren. Great fun to see those guys! We only meant to stay for a few minutes, but ended up talking and joking all afternoon, then going to a pub for dinner and drinks. And after that we made a quick visit to see Mum and Dad. Mum said Ebony, our niece, is really eager to see us over her school holidays, so we said we’ll definitely make sure to see her. We’ll probably take her to the movies.
As we drove home, the stars were really shining .. I could make out the milky way which always looks so bright out here where there isn’t much light. A very wonderful day for sure!
And though I promised I’d jump back into doing the Artist’s Way, I haven’t been working on it at all. I know it did help me when I first started off, but I did a definite “creative U-turn” and gradually stopped working on it and, in doing so, lost all momentum. I can’t explain exactly why I’m not ready to continue yet, but my heart just isn’t in it. I will be doing my own “creative recovery” though, and it will include elements of the Artist’s Way, so I haven’t given up on being more creative…just think I need to do things in a less rigid and structured way right now. I’d compare it to wandering along the beach, picking up shells and pebbles, and choosing the ones that are the most special. I’ll be going through different books and sites and choosing things to do that call to me, and sorting through them, noting what works well for me and what doesn’t. It doesn’t mean I’ll only do the most “fun” or “exciting” things, but I’ll focus on what I think I need to work on the most. It’ll be a slow and steady thing. I have no time frame and the only goal in mind is to grow as a person and artist.
For now I’m off to sleep. I’m still not over the jet-lag, but I’ve been sleeping at more regular hours, which is good. K…catcha lata!

I can’t see the new banner and colours? I can only see your former scheme; which is still cute. ;) (I love Pez.) And the colours of the scheme I see are good colours for your upcoming season. Still, I’m curious to see the flowers and spring colours; it sounds lovely!

I saw it when I refreshed, but now there’s no banner! *lol* These are beautiful colours…

Kirsten, not sure why you can’t get the banner to show up…someone else had that problem last month. I’ll see if Cam has any ideas about what’s going on..

Good luck with your creative path – whether it’s the AW or not. (I’ve been railing against the rigidness and the implication that one-size-fits-all actually fits anyone for a while, but it’s still somewhat working for me, whereas it sounds like it was not for you.)
Alas, I can’t see the banner either. They are nice colors!

Thanks Laura,
Yes..something wasn’t working for me…maybe several things. Still, I’m going to keep up with the group and read different sites through the last part of the course.
Good luck to you too, as you continue!

hey ames! it sounds like what you’ll be doing is a lot like what i’m planning for the contagious creativity group after aw ends!
i totally understand that the timing just isn’t right sometimes, so no worries at all.
i hope you’ll share some of the exercises you do, both with aw and other creative sources.
*much love to you!*
