Counting Blessings
It’s amazing what you can find when you go for a walk in the country in the middle of winter!:

Even though you sometimes have to use one of these:

From a wet, cold, wintery Melbourne….enjoy that summer warmth! But we’re all snug and cozy with a new electric blanket on the bed and plans for pre-cut firewood next week. We’ve got clean clothes, with our spiffy new washing machine working wonderfully, and have just had a nice weekend over at the in-laws’ saying goodbye to Faye & Wayne who are moving to Western Australia. Played “Go Fish” with Eb (a new game for her) and she painted my nails. Yummy meals too – for example, meatloaf, potatoes and greens, with choc. chocolate-chip muffins and ice cream for dessert!
In a few weeks we’re having Mum and Dad and Ebony spent the weekend. Should be lots of fun! And one more great thing to add to the list: a package from my family! YAY! Winter coat, clothes, a cozy robe, chocolate, a Paul Simon CD and pictures! We had fun opening it! Thanks so much Mom and Dad! (I’ll email you this week.)
I’ve been looking at volunteering a couple of days a week, and today put my name in to be contacted..we’ll see how that goes. Spending more time in my studio these days. I’ve been wanting to paint more, but some things need sorting out first… anyway, it’s been fun just cleaning, trashing, and organizing things.
Yep..things are all well in Wongaville. It may be wet outside, but our spirits aren’t dampened at all…. mmmmm, spirits… ;-)

Flowers growing in the winter time! How cool. The only flowers I usually see growing in midwinter outside are the winter pansies that people plant and keep well protected.

Kirsten,
Yes, I was quite surprised too, since the past couple of days have been freezing. But I’m pretty certain that the first flower is an orchid, and they bloom in winter. (And no, it wasn’t from anyone’s garden..he he). The white blooms were from a bush-like tree…not sure what it is though. Maybe the few warm days we had last week set them blooming a little early?

I like the multiple mentions of chocolate under its many different guises (“chocolate”, “choc” and “chocolate chip”)!!! We had a Campino fest today having exhausted the choccy stores- mmmmmmm *heheheh*

He he..thanks Sarah! I was trying to figure out how to type that.. “choc choc-chip” sounded like I was a 2 year old, and “chocolate chocolate chip” just looked like a typo. Good to see my efforts in carefully editing any writing concerning chocolate are being noticed!
And I’m not familiar with Campino..but I’m sure it’s delicious..

Argh! If I say how cool one more time, please shoot me, will you? LOL

Haa.. Kirst..I didn’t even notice. I had to scroll up and re-read your first comment. No worries, cause yeah..it is cool!

Hi Guys, Glad you finally got your pkg. Do you like the CD? Your brother and Allison took me to a Paul Simon concert just last night at the Merriweather Post Pavillon in Columbia, MD. It was terrific!!! His latest album grows on you. Everytime I listen to it, I enjoy it more. He is a poet and a prophet and his music rocks! Will call this weekend–where will you be? SO glad you have your new washing machine!!! Love to all. Mom

Yes Mom, LOVE the new CD. I’ve listened to it twice so far. Cool that you went to the concert. I was thinking of the last one we went to in Hershey. Lots of fun!
We’ll be home this weekend. Next weekend we’ll be going to a family birthday (one of the cousins) and then having Mum, Dad and Eb overnight.
Lots of Love,
Amy

Thanks, J9! Yeah..I want to keep up with the pictures and illos again. Yes, we’re keeping cozy..and will be cozier still when we get some firewood delivered!
It’s too time-consuming to cut ours own without a chainsaw..and the pine burns too fast!
I’m sure it’ll look great stacked against the stone wall!
