Snap Happy
Recently, I’ve been seeing many fun, cool, and energizing photos on the blogs I frequent. Here is a small handful of some favorite shots, and the blogs from whence they came:
I found this light, playful and multi-faceted self portrait at RobinArt.
This wild wig and gorgeous happy guy pic belong to wise, soulful and poetic Jen Gray.
And my good ole pal, (the other) Cameron at notreality shows us what it would be like to have pelican dreams.
Last, but not least, beautiful and talented Penelope Dullaghan reminds us of the joys of family & summer with her touching essay and pics of a 12 hr. drive & very fresh shrimp as well as getting wet! YAY!
These were all so good I just had to share them with you.
As for me, well, I’m thinking that I’ve got two different sized sketchbooks -real live sketchbooks- that need to be put back to good use. Drawing solely in photoshop with a mouse is just not the way to go about building a body of work that represents me as an artist. I like a lot of this digital work and play, but I’m hankering to get outside again and draw some of the beauty of this damp, earthy, soon-to-be-unfurling spring growth in the Melbournian countryside. And I can’t remember the last time I did a PORTRAIT of someone, besides a self portrait… so.. it’s about bloody time! I’ll keep you updated as things progress. (Just contact me if you want to be on my email list.)
Hrrmm…that “About” page has been up a looong time too, and hasn’t been re-formatted to fit the new look of the site. Yep, gonna have to do something about that….

Sometimes you can draw something and do stuff with it in Photoshop after too.

Kirsten,
Yep..I’ve done that often. Right now our scanner is on it’s way out though, so I’ve mainly been doing computer stuff because of that. I haven’t mastered good quality digital photos of my artwork yet, but that looks like the best option till we get a scanner.
I’m not opposed to digital artwork at all, but I know that my best work is at least started with a foundation drawing done on paper, if not entirely traditionally executed.

Sounds good to me. ;) Except the scanner part; hope you can get a new one soon!
