Simply use the same dimensions as the images found in the images folder and give them the same names. Upload them to your theme folder and then refresh your browser cache. Quick and easy brand new look. If you want a totally different layout then find a similar WordPress layout and modify things from there. There are also theme tutorial at WordPress.org (I think).
