The Flower Freak gets a job!….

Listening to: The Prayer Chants of Japenese 'Marathon Monks' (Yamabushi)

…working with..flowers!
10 minutes from home!!
8 hours today..back is sore, but the work is good.
Potting, weeding and tagging plants at a wholesale nursery..roses, traditional garden varieties and native plants and grasses.

Funny things that happened at work today:

The pot plants are to be set in rows of 9!! (My lucky #)

As I was explaining how I met Cameron (R.E.M. chatroom back in 1999), Losing My Religion starts playing. Then a few hours later it plays again.

My best friend’s song (Little Miss Can’t be Wrong) plays. Haven’t heard that in ages! YAY!! (Thanks for calling the other day, Little Miss!)

Other cool things:
The girl training me showed me the seed pods on pansies and how they can yield plants by first putting them in paper bags at home. I found 2 for me. I’m ‘digging’ this so far!!

Played “Jenga” at lunch with a few peeps, and the one guy said ‘you keep getting the hardest ones!’ yet I still managed not to lose. (Yes, I’m easily amused and delighted with things like this)

Worked with the spicy smelling lavender flowers right before leaving..envigorating yet soothing. Nice heady scent.

Because our car was in the shop today, the taxi driver (who dropped me off in the morning) said on the way home,”How was work?” I said “Good but I’m pretty tired now” So, he drove me up the long crappy driveway and he said it was no problem, because “it’s a long steep walk when you are tired”. He was really cool!

My husband left cool notes all over the house before he got home with the car and on his return said “Let’s get KFC tonight.” AND WE DID! YUM!”

Good Day. Feeling lots better on many levels. Hopefully the work lasts for a long time. Spring is busy and summer seems steady, so that’s a good thing!*
Love to all and sundry!

*Damn Martha Stewart for tainting that phrase!
