Let’s Wrap This Thing Up!

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

Finally, after a year and a bit, I’ve completed my chair series!! I’ve decided that for Art Everyday Month this year, I won’t be doing a series. It gets to be pretty tedious for me. I’m just lucky if I can do a piece of art every day! I’ll be putting up my first few days work later, but I wanted to get these out of the way first:

Boy, it does feel good to have finally finished this, although I actually may miss drawing chairs a little. I’ll be making them into a book down the line.

The latest bunch:

Off to a pub lunch tomorrow, to celebrate an Auntie’s birthday. Should be fun!

Off Track

Listening to this album reminds me that I’ve never written about the “Ken Stringfellow Project” on this here blog. That’s a story for another day, but for now I’ll give an encapsulation of what it was: In late 2000, Cameron and I and 4 others were involved in an international online project designing and constructing a custom-made guitar for Ken, member of the band the Posies, keyboard player for R.E.M. and very kewel guy! It was great fun and quite exciting, so if I don’t tell about it soon, remind me!
This album is beautiful..I haven’t listened to it since the beginning of the year since I’d left it behind for Cameron when I went to the States. Good to hear it again.

Well, having been so productive just a few days ago, I proceeded to rest on my laurels and have been a lazy bum and feeling guilty for it, too. I vow to get back on track tomorrow! It’s not like there’s a lack of things to do…I just didn’t have any ambition. Well, until tonight. I finally drew 2 more chairs:

Only six more till I reach my goal of 30. And I want to wrap them up soon, because November is Art Every Day month, and the chair series was last year’s project, believe it or not! I gave up mid-way and only got around to finishing it this year. I have a habit of leaving things half-finished, so it feels good to be so near the end of this series. We’ll see if I can’t do better this year!

One is Better than None

Well, I did one drawing at least. I feel I accomplished something, even if it’s not all that I set as a goal. It takes much discipline for me to get back into the habit of daily drawing after such a long break, but I determined to do it. Even if it’s one day and one drawing at a time:

Had a good talk with the family on the phone today. Poor Isaac was over-tired and was crying at the time. He just loves playing so much that he doesn’t want to go to sleep! Got to talk to Mom, Kathy and Dan and fill them in on all that I’ve been up to, which, admittedly isn’t a whole lot yet. In some ways I feel like I haven’t been here very long, but Kathy reminded me that it’s been almost a month..well, minus a week. ;-)

Didn’t get a walk in today. It was quite windy, damp, and dreary most of the day. So instead, I had a nice bath with candles and incense lit, and had a cup of chamomile tea and orange slices. Very relaxing! I’ll make sure to get my walk in tomorrow.

Now I’m off for a game of Rummikub with Cam, and then bed. Ahh, I’m ready for it! Tired as.
