Pennsylvania And Some Homemade Pumpkin Pie

Sorry for the long unexplained absence. My elbow is now fine & dandy and I’m finished with the physio-therapy. Thanks for the well-wishes.

Well. I’ll keep it short and sweet, because I’m B-U-S-Y, but suffice it to say, I’ll be back in the U.S.A. in about a week!! YAY!! I’ll see if I can get a more well-rounded entry up here before I leave, but if not, I’ll keep ya posted from PA!

(Seth, we got your CD and think it’s great!! I’ll send you an email soon!)

Crazy Busy

This past week, between dogsitting sweet little Anu & Goldie for Melissa, celebrating our 4 Year Anniversary, celebrating Mum’s birthday, and Bronwen’s “hen’s party” at a day spa, we squeezed in x-rays, dr. appts and physiotherapy. I think we have a few days off now!

anu

Mel’s dogs are super tiny compared to ours, and Anu is especially full of energy. There was a lot of fun and laughter, but it kind of reminded me of watching 2 year olds, with all the supervision required. So funny to see all 4 dogs headed outside in one big group. And, no surprise that I still can’t find one of my slippers! We miss them though, they are a couple of cuties. (I would’ve drawn Goldie as well, but I’m getting rather sleepy.)

The x-rays showed that my arm is healing well, which means that I don’t have to have an operation to have a piece of my bone permanently removed. Bonus!

The garden is now threatening to consume us whole, since I can’t get out there just yet..somehow we lost Gus’s favourite ball today, and it’s probably just hidden in some long grass. Ann and Jordan are going to put the horses in the yard soon, so at least that’s taken care of. . .

And we’ve been invited to Adrian’s birthday party in November, and have to come dressed as our inner super hero – the lamer the better. (Think “Mystery Men”).
Hrmmm..any suggestions would be appreciated. . . .

Quick Update

listening to: OK Go, Camera Obscura

abstract 1

An abstract piece that I created a while ago.

Well, despite my injuries, I’ve been quite busy working on some website projects. Also playing ball with the pups (carefully), and helping out (carefully) with cooking and laundry. Cameron’s been doing most of the work, and though I suppose I should feel relaxed by the break from any real physical work, I actually find it much more frustrating than peaceful. I want to be vigorously pulling up weeds, carting the wheelbarrow around the yard to clear it of branches, and I’d love to take a nice hot shower or soak in the tub, but since it’s a clawfoot, and hard to get into, I’ve paid some visits to the very local, and quite competitively priced spa/salon: “Dodgy Cam’s House of Hair”. The water temp has been perfect every time. They also do a great complimentary back rub!

We’ll be heading over to the in-laws sometime soon for some visiting with the gang. Daniel wants to have us for dinner some night and we’ll probably see Adrian again too. (Had a fun time last weekend when he came over and shared a pizza with Cam, Ebony, and me.) We may even manage to see the guys at Worco…

Well, it’s time to enjoy some fresh air. I can still fetch some flowers for the house, and prune a bit…. and the weeds can grow as much as they please….

…for now… ;-)

Feeling Better!

listening to: Sinead O\'Connor, Aimee Mann, Paul Simon, Glenn Miller, Blowzabella, and Sunday Night Safran on my new mp3 player - a \'get-well\' gift from Cameron. THANK YOU, SWEETIE!

Thanks for the get-well wishes and calls. I’m getting around better now, sleeping through the night, and in much less pain. Tomorrow we’re off to Eltham to see the doctor again and I’ll see what the next step of recovery shall be…
Been getting outside every day… just walking in the yard and kicking toys to the dogs. They don’t seem to mind that they don’t get to chase things as far or fast. :-) Sometimes I manage to get the ball over Gus’s head by accident, though. He he..

Switching gears…

Was so sad to hear that Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) has died. I really liked him and his work, and can’t imagine how devastating this must be to his family and friends. It just doesn’t seem possible…he was so full of energy and life. (Mom, I know you’ll be sorry to hear this too.) Though he and his wife were aware of the dangers of their line of work, it probably still comes as a great shock. I’m sure the good work that he initiated will continue on in his memory…

Here is a sketch of some daffodils that we bought from the Cancer Council of Australia last Sunday. I’d started it as a watercolor before I fell on Monday and I finished it tonight on the computer, sans reference:

Thanks again to del4yo for the border pattern on this one!

Typing with one hand takes a while, but I can afford to take that extra time since there are a lot of things I can’t do right now. Like gardening!!! Arghhh..way to drive me crazy!! :-)
