No Reading?!

Inspired by morning pages:

Took “off” for the weekend since we partied and then spent the night at Mum and Dad’s to visit with them and Ebony. The party was great fun. I did go as Mother Nature after all. Easy enough to make a wreath, from all the stuff in the garden. And I wore a blue dress and a green silk robe over it, which has a leaf pattern.
Yesterday, Eb and I made “ooze” from a kit that we gave her. And that made me think of silly putty and the rest…
Didn’t do my artist date last week, but I’ll see if I can make up for it this week. Time sometimes seems to get away from me, and before I realise it, it’s the end of the week. I have no clue what I’m doing for this week though, so I’ll start thinking about that!

But…
this reading deprivation for week 4 is driving me nuts!! I HATE it. I still check email once a day, and the weekend wasn’t bad since we were busy, but arghhhh…I can’t wait till Saturday! But, maybe it’s going to benefit me more than I realise? I did take the extra time and effort tonight to make pumpkin bread. I probably wouldn’t have bothered doing that normally, because it’s a bit involved. We’ll see what changes the next few days bring…

Thinking Out Loud

It’s Australia Day. (Public Holiday) Hot hazy day with smoke from far off bushfires drifting over the hills. Thunderstorm is rolling in, so I thought I’d post this now since there’s a chance the power could go out. Still letting the paint on the canvas dry a bit longer, as I didn’t realize I’d painted it a little thickly in places. I may work on a sketch in a little while, and possibly do another piece like the pez drawing?
Still trying to think of a costume for Daniel’s party on Saturday. Hrmmm…I may just stick with my original plan of “Mother Nature” and wear a wreath made from garden stuff, and a flowered outfit…. Since there’s a barbeque before the party I’m trying to think of a low maintenance costume that’s easy to take off for a while. We have some paper masks, so I can decorate one of those too.
Oopps..there’s the thunder..I’m gonna scoot!…

Peztastic!

Noticing how late it was getting I said to Cam, “I haven’t posted an entry yet! Hrmm..don’t know what to post, so I’ll just post a bunch of cool links tonight”. When I typed a search for “Cool art blogs” to get some new sites (not that we need any with all the cool ones doing the Artist’s Way), I noticed about 6 links down, “9 Moons Ago” among some others. Then I thought, “Wow. Hey yeah..if I’m an art blog, where’s my ART?!” So I decided to draw something quick and dirty. Cam sugggested a couple of pez dispensers as subject matter, and I thought that would be cool. I sketched them, scanned the drawing, and colored them in photoshop. Love how it turned out! I’ve got to do some more of this kind of thing! I bring you Luke Pezwalker and Batpez:

The Pez dispensers got me thinking about childhood things, and some of the tasks this week focus on childhood memories and experiences. I even had a dream last night in which I was a child, back in my old neighborhood with friends I haven’t seen in years..and I mean YEARS! But it’s cool to be an adult and still have that sense of play that you had as a child. I sent Cam those Pez dispensers along with other fun toys one year; silly putty, a dart gun, a coloring book and sparkle crayons. I sent another friend a clear purple “toy box” with play-doh, bubbles and a few other fun things. She said it was one of the best gifts she’s ever gotten in the mail. I think for my Artist Date this week I’m going to buy myself a toy! Something small, but fun. Still thinking of the favorite childhood food I want to have/make this week. Yep, I think I’m in the groove of things. Next thing on my list is to take a look at my habits! That’s a good one.

Today’s notes: Well, today was a lot less strenuous. I decided to take it a bit easier, but did manage to knock some cobwebs down and sweep up some dog hair. We also did the grocery shopping, which we hadn’t done yesterday. Finally dropped off a bag of clothing, which has been in the trunk for a few weeks now, at a donation bin at the local church. Nice weather again today..even a bit chilly. Soon time to take down the tree…it’s starting to dry up. Looking forward to a party at Daniel’s on the 28th. “It’s gonna be fun, it’s gonna be fun!”

Reflecting on the Subject of “What We Go Through For Our Niece”: Have a few pics to share of Cameron and myself at Ebony’s mercy. Actually, we don’t mind doing stuff like this for her. She’s usually the only kid over at Mum and Dad’s, so she sometimes gets bored. I once bought her a couple of Mad Libs books and everyone was ready to strangle me for that after a few days because she loved it so much that she would constantly bombard us with requests for “nouns”, “verbs” and “adjectives”.
Here she is giving me a tattoo a few weeks ago:

I think I was lucky, compared to what happened to Cam on Christmas Day:
Tomorrow’s notes: If the weather is nice I’ll do some more garden work. Wash the new dish towels and a few other things and hang on the line. Trash goes out..good day to declutter! I’ll see if I can’t draw something in my sketchbook. Get the paper. Read a little. Make a fruit salad. Dance to some good music!
