Life is a Beach

Gus has been feeling better and wanted to thank everyone for the well-wishes and love. Here he is bird-watching and enjoying the fresh air in Mum and Dad’s backyard this past weekend:

I tried to get a picture of the rainbow-lorikeet parrots in the apple tree, but they were being camera-shy.

Yesterday I had a doctor appointment near the city and afterwards Cam surprised me by taking a detour on the way home…to the beach! YAY. It was a beautiful day..sunny, but with a nice cool breeze. We went to Elwood Beach which is a large bay area, where you can see the city skyline on one side and gorgeous large houses on the other side. The water was deep blue and sparkly, contrasting greatly with the white caps of the waves.

There were a few people there, but it was nice and quiet. There was a couple walking with their baby daughter who was wearing a bright green sweatshirt and a diaper. She loved splashing her feet in the water and kept wobbling and falling in the sand with a big smile on her face.

After I waded for a bit and picked up some shells and sea glass, Cam and I went to a cafe for lunch where we had a seat overlooking the beach and water. It was so beautiful. And the lunch was delicious. I had beer battered fish and chips, and a cranberry juice. We watched a group of children on the beach who had just walked over from a school or daycare.

Though we didn’t have the camera with us, I found some pictures on a tourist site of an area very close to where we were. I am still amazed by the palm trees here, after all these years!:

For some more gorgeous shots of the area, go here: Elwood Beach.

I’ll take these shells back next time we visit and exchange them for a new handful:

It was great to see the ocean again! I’m sure we’ll get there again before the cold weather hits.

Otherwise, things are busy as usual, but good. If I don’t appear with a new post before next week, have a happy Easter!

The Fine Print Could Be A Liability

From time to time, for various occasions, Cam and I will treat ourselves to some beverages (aka booze). One of these times, we picked up a bottle of Asti and as we were leaving the store, Cameron spied a very inexpensive (aka cheap) bottle of “Passion Pop” which intrigued him, because it was lemon lime flavoured. I grimaced, but told him to put it in the cart and we’d try it for experimentation’s sake.

The Asti was lovely, as usual. The Passion Pop?

Hrmmm. So nasty that I didn’t finish one glass. THEN I read the label:

“LEMON LIME FLAVOURED WINE PRODUCT
Produced with the aid of milk, fish, egg & nut products and traces may remain.”

Eewwwwwwww…

So, that’s the difference between a good inexpensive wine and a cheap wine….

product.

Well, I’m finally getting over the jet lag. Sorry that I haven’t been very “vocal” online, but yes, I’m happy to be back. However, I managed to miss the snow that I was hoping for in Pennsylvania, by about a week! (Can’t wait to see those pics, Kathy!)

The weather has been pleasant. Still quite warm, sometimes hot, but in this house it’s nice and cool. Thick stone walls are a blessing in summer. We also have been making good use of of oscillating fans. Mmm.. very nice, especially with a cold ginger beer in hand.

The dogs are enjoying new toys from “Nanna”, and Gus and I have had one good walk so far… easing into the routine of things once more. Starting on job seeking, doing the grocery shopping with Cameron, and playing around on photoshop until I pick up the paintbrushes in my studio:

Cameron and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day the night before, just because we were in the mood to celebrate. We went out to an Italian restaurant, called “Sofia”, and had nice meals. I ordered the small ravioli and got a serving so big that I took more than half of it home and that was enough for lunch today, and a snack later on.Then came the tiramisu.

It was bigger than my head. (Well just about.)

And sooo goooood that I’m going to be dreaming about it for a week.

After dinner, we stopped at the store where Cam bought me the most lovely red tulips!! They are gorgeous:

So, it’s been a lovely Valentine’s Day. I hope you are having a lovely one too!
Much love to all my family and friends, near and far. Love you and miss you!
Heard that you called the other day, Mumsy…we were out running errands.
Kaffy, I’m wearing my “love” socks! Love ‘em!
:-D

Too Soon, Not Soon Enough…

Was absentmindedly eating conversation hearts the other day, when I decided to actually read one.

The one I chose?
