Artist at Work…

listening to: The White Stripes

Haven’t drawn today.. in fact, to be honest, the whole “oh! yes! i’ll do a drawing in my small grey journal every single day from now on!!” has been a sham since feb.11th. And really, I only drew for 4 days in a row and then one sketch 4 days later…which was the 11th!

Now, I’m not really worried that it’s gotten off to a less than routine start. I’ll get back to sketching, and I don’t need to be a nazi about doing artwork! Especially since I’m genuinely motivated and inspired for the first time in about a decade! Seriously..10 years! Im not afraid, thats for sure! Im being an artist. Being.

Even though I havent been drawing or painting, I HAVE been creating! Cleaning, unpacking, decorating my studio. I actually know where my paints and brushes are now and have been using my drafting table to write notes and letters. (Gets me into the habit of being in my studio.)

Ive been watering the plants with recycled dish/laundry water…this is the first time Ive known about ALL the cool plants here…knew about some already. We have a pear tree..with pears on it! A peach tree with 3 peaches that the possums havent found ..or cant reach…yet. I found a lone apple on the tree in the rose garden and plucked it early since Cam loves green apples. It was tiny, but nice to use with lunch..I had a taste. Need to find out more about figs, as we have those out front too! The roses and lavender arent dead from the drought, but I plan to help them out with a little extra water whenever possible.

Ive be de-cluttering, reading and writing. Helping Cam organize his workshop. (He’s been making cool stuff too!) Gonna try scanning stuff tomorrow. There are lists and ideas forming. These rusty wheels are turning once more..stay tuned!!!

Scooter? Wasn’t he a muppet?!

Well, today was good. Expected to get my morning pages done, do artwork in my sunlit studio and finish the unpacking, but not bothered that the day took a different direction. Cam and I ate breakfast and headed out to the mall to deposit a check and pick up a few things at the grocery store.

A few days ago, Cam registered to use the “scooters” they have at the mall. It really helps out a lot! Cam can use his crutches to the desk and we get so much more done in less time! It sure beats taking the wheelchair out of the trunk/boot every time!!!
And it’s much easier for me to walk faster than slower if Cam isn’t using the wheelchair. Besides, he thinks it’s a lot of fun too! And they have storage for several shopping bags..yay for me!

We’re going to check out local swimming pools for exercise. We both love to swim anyway. Thankfully, his new(ish) meds have been helping greatly to reduce pain and flare ups of the arthritis.

Fixed a nice lunch..ham sandwiches, grapes, carrots, cucumber, water w/lemon. Then proceeded to be overwhelmed by competing priorities. Decided to make the most of the sunlight and do some garden work. Helped Cam organize his workshop since he has a bad back at the moment, and wants to make more planes asap.

It was a chilly night for the end of summer. I decided to use the fireplace in the front room tonight. Gotta get used to no-central-heating again! Hopefully Faye and Wayne will spend a weekend here when it’s warm. Stone cottages can be quite beautiful, but if it’s almost 100% stone, including the floors, it anything but cozy!! (Not good for Cameron’s ankles either!!) But we LOVE it here anyway!!
Took my sketchbooks and watercolour pencils out there in front of zee fiar, after dinner. Will be posting results of that lata….

Something silly

listening to: I'm in London Still (The Waifs)

!!!!!!!language and occassional immaturity warning!!!!!!

Go here if you like silly stuff!! (Below I gave the links to my 3 favs from www.weebls-stuff.com/toons)
It’s hit and miss with what is at the site. Some of it’s pretty funny, some isn’t at all. Some is strange and the songs get stuck in your head. I don’t know who Patrick Moore is still, but if Cam sings that damn song one more time I may have to strangle him! I say at least try my first two links..they are good. (Third one is goofier, but I like it) And yes, I know it’s not Christmas anymore.
