Listening to: The Bees, Little Birdy (by day: the insects & birds and by night: the bands! wow--kewel!)

9 Moons Ago: Eve of Peek-a-Boo!

A taste of the deliciousness around us:

Woke to a sun filled room, the first daffodills of the year gracing the windowsill. Took a good look at the rosella parrots outside, as I knew the pups would chase them out of view before long. Studied the crimson heads, yellow breasts, vivid green back and the long blue tailfeathers. Found one close to death in the garden the other day. Suppose he had gone too close to the nests of the magpies, for when I turned him over gently with a stick, saw that he’d been pecked on the head. He was already in shock and I left him in the long grass that night. He was dead by morning and I’m guessing our local fox took care of the rest, since he frequents that area.

Sat outside on a blanket this afternoon to finish the drawings which I’d started 2 days ago, the scent of blossoms heavy in the air, the magpies caroling, high notes of bellbirds and whip-like calls of the whipbird (go figure!) in full surround sound. Once in a while, the sweet smell of warming eucalyptus leaves wafted by on a gentle breeze.

Later on, the dog and I wandered down the drive and across the street, meandering through paddocks(fields) edged with flowers of various hues: white, red with yellow throat, royal purple, lavender, palest of yellow and deep gold. Walking up and over hills, we met horses and wood ducks, a couple of grey and pink gallahs, then turned around to head home before Gus could investigate the little ring tailed possum lying on the shoulder of the road.
As we hiked back up the long drive to the house, butterfly couples danced in circles around us, their yellow-orange wings flitting in the dappled sunlight.

Does it all sounds too perfect and serene? Well, it was..and I loved it!

Listening to: The Chieftains: Music of the Celtic Harp

Since I’m just hopping on Cam’s computer tonight, before bed, I thought I’d post a couple of silly shots.+
He’s just gonna luuurve this… *rolls one eye* .-)

Nice Amy:

…but wait..is that a hug or a strangle-type pose??!

Evil Amy:

..yep! Must have been a strangle!!

And, inspired by some quotes on Janine’s blog, Mango Bango, I am ending with a favourite quote of mine:

“Cherish your visions;
Cherish your ideals;
Cherish the music that stirs in your heart,
the beauty that forms in your mind,
the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts,
for out of them will grow all delightful conditions,
all heavenly environments;
of these, if you but remain true to them,
your world will at last be built.”

And since I just returned from my walk today, here are those pictures too. It was pretty bright, but a couple of them turned out o.k.:

New post coming soon! Want an update notice?

Just a quick note, to let you know that there will be a new entry later. Last night I was on Cameron’s computer and right when I was going to post, the site was down. So I saved it on the other comp and went to bed.

Going to get a list together of anyone who would like to know when I update this site..so, for now, if you’d like to get a friendly email notice, just send something my way at:

amymlehr at yahoo dot com

Been meaning to do this for a while, so I figure I’d better just bite the bullet and start it. Not that it’s that hard to do or anything..sheesh!

Going outside in a little while to enjoy the sunshine.. think I’ll take the camera on my walk today. I promised my friend, Kristan, that I’d get a shot of a kangaroo for her sometime, and wouldn’t you know..one day last year I was walking Gus and seven kangaroos were grazing on a hill! And me with no camera!! And I doubt they’ll be back..now there’s a housing development going up on that very spot! Arghhh..I really have a thing about developers eating up land that was once wide and free and gorgeous….

Well, I’ll take some pics of the beautiful scenery anyway…maybe post a couple..
Till then.. HAVE LOTS OF FUN!! WHOO HOO!!

Where have I been?

Well, it’s been hella nice outside, so I’ve been walking and puttering in the garden, and I picked these:

My mother-in-law gave me this:

…so I made these:

Wonky but cute.

Really wonky and not yet finished.

I also broke out the payne’s grey wash and filled the journal I made with stuff like this:

Little statue of St. Francis.

More stuff on the way, but I MUST sleep now because, for some insane reason, I stayed up all night. Hey, at least it’s Saturday..good day to sleep in late!!
Mmm..schlleeeeeeeep……
goodnight!!
