Well, though it’s a bit late, (Forgot all about it till Friday! Oops!) here is my contribution to “Illustration Friday” from Penelope’s Site. Finding some really great sites through this one!!
Anyway..here’s “Snazzy!”:

The weather has been fine and Gus and I are enjoying the walks. We’ll do that after I do some dishes. Then I’ll think of, and make, a costume for Adrian’s 40th on Nov 1!! YAY.
Happy Hall-o-ween! Hrmmm..it just feels funny..warm sunny Spring weather..for Halloween!!
Not as shpookky, but oh well. ..Maybe I’ll buy a pumpkin to carve?
Or a large turnip, if I want to go for the ancient Irish authenticity…

Only sorry I didn’t find this sooner:

Countdown to Election Day: 525 Reasons to Dump Bush

Ever since the LAST election, every single time I see him on t.v. I make this involuntary horribly twisted pained grimace..ask anyone who knows me.

My mother informed me that the neighbours across the street have a Bush/Cheney sign in their front yard. The cool thing is…my parents have a Kerry/Edwards sign in theirs.. HAA!
Rock..that’s the first time we’ve had an election sign up, that I know of anyway.

Hey!! I saw YORK, PA on tv last night! Dude!! They had it on an Australian program..Never expected that. They showed the beautiful autumn trees of Pennsylvania..and I was like “Oh great, don’t do that..then I’ll get homesick.” Then York..and *baahh, haa haa* ..instant cure.
Nah..it just surprised us..it was all about the important States in the election, and all the new voters coming out of the woodwork. So, they interviewed some officials in York and stood outside the historic Golden Plough Tavern and obviously avoided the areas in which my mother always locks the car doors, and I thought: hmm..mayyybe I’ll see someone I know…oh well..we did see outside the courthouse where we picked up our marriage license..lol.
Anyway..do your duty, York! Do what Live would want you to do! Heee.

As for my drawing, here’s another one of Gus:

Kaffy..only BEWARE because I might soon be posting a tribute to you like I’ve done for our brother.(All good, of course!)
The baby is gorgeous!!! Thanx for the pics:

Mom: THANKS FOR THE PACKAGE:YAY!!. I’ll email you tomorrow!
Thanks for the emails, everyone..I’ll get back to you!

I’ll be using this to draw tomorrow. It works beautifully:

o.k. Enough images already..see ya later! Inspiration seems to be floating around lately..WHEE..

THANK YOU, DAN!!

listening to: They Might Be Giants: The Spine

They Might Be Giants.
I’m glad that the world has finally discovered their genius.

Hmm..it might have been about ‘86 or so..Saw them on Nickelodeon, of all places. They sang 2 songs..pretty sure one was “Don’t Lets Start”.
Then I never heard of them on t.v. again.
Remembered them out of the blue in highschool. (Era: 1990)
Went to the record store to see if they still existed.
Yes they did: Flood
Bought the tape. Yes: TAPE.
Found out that a few of my friends had this album. Quite serendipidous. Ann and I tried to get them to play it on the bus during a fieldtrip to NY. The students voted to turn it off after 2 minutes.
Bought several earlier albums..and a lot of their next releases over the next decade..
Went to a show in Philadelphia with my bro, sis and friend..one of the best concerts I’ve seen.
It’s ranking up there with my 1999 R.E.M. experience in the 3rd row.
..pretty soon I didn’t buy their albums..my brother did. (And he met them too)
And so I listened to his cds. (Including solo efforts and the children’s album)
Now he’s buying them for me.
YAY!!

I think this is the year of the never-ending birthday. I’ve still got more gifts coming my way..a month later! ROCK!

Dear Dan,
Thanks for mentioning to me how you told Allison I inspired your passion for all different kinds of music. Thanks for agreeing with me that “New Adventures” is one of the best of R.E.M.’s efforts, telling me about your escapades with the Flaming Lips, using your experience as a college radio dj to uphold the time-honored tradition of expanding ppl’s musical tastes, making songs with me and Kathy and various guests on a tape recorder in the ’80s *Thanks to Mom and Dad for buying the realllly expensive keyboard we asked for that Christmas and carting it all the way to Kansas in the trunk of the car, so Seth could help us record a full-length album.(”Double Bookums Over Ice” will live in infamy!)
It’s always fun to go to concerts with you, Dan, because you’ll get up and dance and sing to Paul Simon when all the oldheads around us cast glances as if to say “sit down on the picnic blanket” and complain that they don’t know half of the songs.
I could live through you, because when Mom gave you money, you didn’t think: “Gee, I’d better use this for food, or books..”, but: “How many cds can I buy with this?” or “Should I go see Garbage next month? Um..yeah!!!”
I think it’s really cool that you started teaching yourself piano and making scores for your movies. And for some reason, it’s a really nice memory that you sold your copy of “Mutations” to me at a discount.

So, because of all this, and some other stuff, I’m overlooking the fact that you like Genesis. But I just have to get one dig in there: I think it’s really funny that when you showed Mom your latest Phil Collins t-shirt, she asked you if that was your Halloween costume. Heee!
Love you Beavis!
Your “little” sister,
Ampsy

Hey Kaffy: BEWARE.

9 moons ago: 12-10-04 Celebrating our 2 year Anniversary!

(Happy Birthday Luisa!! Love ya!)

Well, I’ve been working on a painting for someone the past few days, so I thought I’d post some alternate pieces of artwork for you today. Yes, ARTWORK!

Member the painting I did for my godchild…way back when..?
The Beatles..the issues with Paul?

Here ’tis when George started off looking like an alien:

And when he still sorta did, while Paul had been there the whole time, taunting them all to look as good as he did:

Not sure if they ever really did though..as I forgot to take a snap of the finished piece.. D’OH!! (Sheila, next time I’m in good ‘ole York, PA I’d like to do that..)

And here are some doodles I did while waiting for paint to dry between sessions on the portrait I’m painting currently. The Melbourne Cup has me thinking of hats. I’ll have to write a piece on that someday. I don’t own many, but I love ‘em.
I save a lot of my notebooks and little scraps of paper with my doodling. I have an affection for them. It’s good to be free with the pen and brush. To let my mind wander. To draw from imagination entirely. To play!:

*As soon as you’re born, you start dying..so you might as well have a good time!*
GO PLAY!
