9 moons ago: 9-10-04 Turning weekend daydreams into reality

I’m going berserker with the snaps today: possibly because I am making up for lost time, partly because I want to draw AFTER I post today, definitely to show you how cute the pups have been lately, and just because you need to see the absolute beauty of this place (regardless of whether you’re burnt-out from seeing so many damn fleurs here!) I just wish my site had live audio streaming (Kookaburras filled the kitchen with an eerie, yet awesome, raucous this morning; laughing wildly right outside) and smello-vision. (”roses..so many roses….”) After this, I’m headed outside till lunchtime, then some quality studio time. Hope your day is as great as mine have been recently!!

A stunning bunch picked from a walk, sitting on the kitchen windowsill. I think it’s one of my better pictures from this genre.

One of the first rose bushes to bloom. Waiting for the salmon-coloured ones to bud, as we missed them last summer while we were away.

Never was much of rose fanatic. Till these. (The scent will knock you out!)
Always loved getting roses from our neighbor, as a kid, when he would prune. (Thanks, Mr. Breneman!!) Caring for them personally, however, has changed my perspective entirely. We have about 8 or 9 different kinds altogther.

I think this is jasmine. Let me know if I”m wrong about that. Haven’t looked it up yet. There are vines covering the whole of the side verandah. These, another cream-coloured flowering kind, and pale lavender wisteria by the studio. All too short a season tho. They are nearly spent now.

Thanks for putting the lawnmowers in the yard yesterday, Ann, Peter, and Jordan!!
Wow..who’da thunk it??! I have a studio..in stone cottage.. in Melbourne, Australia.. in a secluded spot of suburban-farmland wildnerness.. with 2 horses outside the window!! These guys love getting lots of pats and nuzzles too. I gathered this from the way they’d bang on the studio window with their noses so I’d come outside to see them and say hello.

This is what happens when you neglect a plant for 10 months or so.
Amy’s recipe for beautifully blooming cyclamen: Find a pot-bound, withered, non-blooming cyclamen. Repot, water, hang in fernery, and care for till it gets leggy and produces some so-so blooms. Watch as they quickly dissapear entirely, when ring-tailed possoms eat them, stems and all. Chuck behind shed before leaving for the U.S. in the spring. Return to Oz, then find them several months later by accident..their profuse blooms and large healthy leaves mocking you. Hang in possum-free zone, water every so often, and enjoy weeks of colour every time you step outside your studio door.

The view of the dam (pond) across from the studio. (Hey Dan..t’was taken at..6 in the mo’nin!!)

The little golden cutie, sunbathing amongst the “daisies”.

Why Gus, what cute eyes you have, what a big nose, and what great love!!

(O.K. Boys, let’s go out and play! YAAYY!)

p.s. I’m soooo sick of Jet!!!! Blehhhhh… They’ve just won a bunch of awards over here too. Great, just add fuel to the fire. My ears are melting just thinking about it!!
Currently, my tastes are running from Scissorsisters, to the Streets, the Bees, and Bjork. And some other things that I don’t know the names of yet. The Eminem video is funny. Is it banned entirely in the States yet? Great song, anyway..”as per usual” from him.
Need to get the latest albums from P.J. Harvey and R.E.M. I’m such a slacker.
What’s been rocking your world recently??

Seriously!!

O.K…So I meant to add a drawing and email everyone about it…but I haven’t yet.
So the least I can do is say hi and let you know I’m serious about regular entries and more drawings again.

Hi!! Mom..we’re leaving the house in 30 min and will call you sometime on your fri. night when we arrive at Mum & Dad’s, sorry I didn’t inform you of the time, I can’t convert it because it’s been too long since I’ve done that, and we’re running a bit late.. so don’t worry if we miss you. We can call you from our place tomorrow, if so.

So much to catch up on, so I’ll leave that till tomorrow.

BABIES EVERYWHERE!!:
Congratulations Ann and Martijn!!!
Kisses to Isaac and Anna and Lexie and the rest of the family!! MORE PICTURES PLEASE!!

I haven’t felt like going near a computer for about a month. If you check in, and wonder where I’ve been and/or when I’ll re-appear, never fear.
I shall return. And if you’re on the mailing list, I’ll give you a holla.
If you want to be on said list, email me:

amy at 9moonsago dot com.

I’m thinking this “comeback” should be more successful than some of my other attempts. Been feeling quite well recently..even tho tired during the week. So, in the next few days there should be an update.
Until then, cheers!
