Heres my contribution to Illustration Friday. Vintage Undies! Normally, I never copy other illustrations, but this is my take on a vintage fashion illustration. Its got a bit of a different character than the original anyway:

And here are my 2 chairs. I decided not to try and make the rest of the chairs look like prints, but let them develop as they see fit!:

O.K. Off to bed!
See ya later!!

9 moons ago: 3-11-04:It\'s a Miercoles! I\'m on an artistic high.

Just have to post a few pictures for friends and relations!!
These are too beautiful!!

Our favourite picture of Isaac and Kathy. What a face, little guy! Kathy, you’re looking great!!(*Mrs. Lehr, you’ve got a luvely daughter!*):

Uncle Dan teaching Isaac about the good stuff in life….lounging in bed!!
What is cool is that Isaac reminds me of what Dan looked like as a baby in this shot.
I love the difference in the size of these guys!:

And I have to post 2 of these because I just think it’s so cute to see my little brother holding a baby!! Awwww:

Mom!!
Cameron says thanks for all the gifts! He had so much fun opening them and we both got a kick out of it! He especially likes the Dallastown Doggie. He’s been spending all his time right next to Cam on his bedside table, along with the car flashlight. Heee.

There should be a couple pieces of artwork up today or tomorrow. It’s Cam’s Dad’s birthday this weekend, so I may not be around till next week. I have, however, been happy with the chairs. There is one more lino print from yesterday, and today I move on to a new medium. I might replicate the lino look though?

And, last but not least, I just have to include these haikus I recieved in an email from my Uncle Doug.
Personally, I’m not much of a cat person..I’m allergic to them too, which doesn’t help.
But I’ve known several really cool cats belonging to friends and family.

This is for Willow, Kelly, Shaka, and all the others that gave me a new sense of affection and respect for the feline species!:

Cat Haikus

The food in my bowl
Is old, and more to the point
Contains no tuna.

So you want to play.
Will I claw at dancing string?
Your ankle’s closer.

There’s no dignity
In being sick - which is why
I don’t tell you where.

Seeking solitude
I am locked in the closet.
For once I need you.

Tiny can, dumped in
Plastic bowl. Presentation,
One star; service: none.

Am I in your way?
You seem to have it backwards:
This pillow’s taken.

Your mouth is moving;
Up and down, emitting noise.
I’ve lost interest.

The dog wags his tail,
Seeking approval. See mine?
Different message.

My brain: walnut-sized.
Yours: largest among primates.
Yet, who leaves for work?

Most problems can be
Ignored. The more difficult
Ones can be slept through.

My affection is conditional.
Don’t stand up,
It’s your lap I love.

Cats can’t steal the breath
Of children. But if my tail’s
Pulled again, I’ll learn.

I don’t mind being
Teased, any more than you mind
A skin graft or two.

So you call this thing
Your “cat carrier.” I call
These my “blades of death.”

Toy mice, dancing yarn
Meowing sounds. I’m convinced:
You’re an idiot.

***************************************************************
* There’s a kind of hush, all over the world tonight….*
YAY!! I love this song!! Groovy.

Raise your hand if you’re sick of chairs yet….

This has a French thing goin on, I think:

Cameron and I loved the way this looked before I cut down the page, so I left it as the whole piece!:

This is a “take it or leave it” one for me:

Played with this in photoshop just a leetle beet… cause it’s a little hard to read the coppery paint on the green background. But I kinda like that. The light green was the first print, then I did a coppery one over it..photoshop filter was ..uhh..I totally forget:

Haven’t been sending out emails yet..I figure I’ll do it once in a while and not every time I post. (Due for one soon) So, if you’ve happened to drop in, but haven’t gotten email in a while, don’t think I’ve forgotten you.
Take care.. more fun and some writing next time!!

No Sense of Time WHAT-SO-EVER!!

9 moons ago: 31-10-04: creating a pirate costume....*arrrrrrrggghhhhh, matey*..

Here is what happens when you start lino, then realize that lino cuts can take a long time to do.. especially when it’s a busy few days and you’re a perfectionist so you try and re-do prints until they are “good”, and then you read some blogs that inspire you to post the results, even though it’s mid-process:

I’ve always been thankful for those successful artists that have inspired me, not by their infamous masterpieces, but by revealing their trial and error process..the mistakes and all! I’m lucky to have had some mentors that have taught me that mistakes can teach someone as much as doing things right on the first try.

I’ve stopped for the night, realizing that I’ve done the numbers wrong way round..which is actually right way round! I thought it would be interesting to show the lino before it’s cut though. It looks cool, eh?
I really like the prints, but I’ll be glad to move on to a new medium. I’m going to enjoy having this little booklet of chairs when it’s finished though…
