Home Again

Back from the beach..had a lovely time!
Snoozing on a blanket by the sea, reading while hearing the surf, splashing about with my sister and friend in the ocean, talking in a semicircle with relations on the sand, hardshell crab feast, going on rides and eating ice cream and fries on the boardwalk, people watching, cookouts, pizza and potlucks, and a hilarious drunken game of “cranium” one evening.
Doing a short entry for now. I want to try and clean my room after dinner because it’s been a wreck for a while now. Expecting a call from Cameron tonight! YAY!
Here’s a cutesy little drawing I did on the computer:

I hope to do some more drawings soon, but I did some real sketches on paper at the beach so maybe I can post them from my sister’s place next week since she has a scanner. They are mainly people sitting around in beach chairs…

Sarah and Janine, it was good talking to you two on IM today!

Two more nights and then I hit the beach for a week! Hurrah!!

Signs of Summer

These tomatoes and basil will make a nice bruchetta later in the season:

I photoshopped it up, as you can probably tell. My attempt at drawing the plants didn’t go so well today. I was far too impatient. I did draw a little though. We don’t have a scanner here, so I can’t show the results. (The digital camera my parents have doesn’t include a zoom lens.) I not only miss my husband, but I miss our technology!

Time for a dip in the pool. My little nephew and me, last week:

Victim’s Ditty
Flutter flutter fly
Birdie in the sky.
What makes you so free and
happy all the time?
What makes me decide
to use you in my rhyme?
Chirping and chiding
slipping and sliding.
We both have a role
And that takes a toll
On one of us one day
The other another.
For I found your feathers
After bad weathers.
Was it a feline foe
Or storms that dealt the blow?
Tell me now
Just how
Does one fly above the pain
And tragedy of being sane
In this world of those who tear you down
To build up their own kingly crown?
That bolt of light or feline might
Did a disservice to a bright
and shining beacon.
If in church, you’d be the deacon.
I, on the other hand
would be one to stand
in the middle of the chorus at noon
Singing a little out of tune.
Thinking a bit about you
And how your beauty is the glue.
A bird in flight
Natural delight.
Your presence is a sign of health and good.
An example to shining brotherhood.
Man can only hope to be
As beautiful as little thee.
