Almost Outta Here…

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Well, here’s the plan… we’ve been doing things gradually for over a month, so a lot is finished, though now that the time is drawing near, I feel a bit out-of-my-depth:

Today..pack, pack, pack.
Tomorrow..pack work pack pack pack.
Tuesday..renting a truck for removal of large items, work, moving.
Wed… we’re outta here..

ARGH…

So that is why yesterday, I took up a friend’s invitation to join “facebook” even though I never had any intention of doing so, having already declared my previously-existing extra blogs (like myspace) to be redundant.

So, yes, that made perfect sense: hide from major priorities and make a new blog and contact even more ppl I’ve lost touch w/ over the years so that I can promise to write a letter to them which will never be sent!

Logical.

Totally.

I may be around next week, if my head doesn’t explode!

Good days, good times…

listening to: of Montreal, Intercooler

Earlier in the week: Beach-YAY!, Worco - YAY!, & Work (though I like the job, I don’t think going to work will ever warrant a “YAY!”).

Some pics of Henry the blacksmith, at work at the forge, at Worco.. an artisan’s co-op which Cam was once a part of, and is possibly going to join again. One of my favorite places to visit!:

(In case you were wondering what was on the TV, it was the Simpsons. I had to laugh at that one. I doubt most people would imagine a blacksmith watching that in-between sessions with the hammer and tongs!)

Fri: Saw “Operator Please” play. RECOMMENDED! Cam and I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though we were old enough to be the parents of most of the band members. (eep.) Some are still in high school, but they have a sophisticated sound, and have “tightened up” from the first recordings we’ve heard. (They’ve also scored a TV commercial soundtrack and at least one Australian music award.)
We bought a couple of singles and pre-ordered their upcoming CD.

Sat: worked part of the day, then time off to lounge a bit

Sun: Celebrated Cameron’s birthday with Daniel, Jacinta and her beautiful little daughter, Shayla. Had a great lunch at one of our fav. Italian restaurants and all split the tiramisu. YUM! The manager, Mary, was happy to see us. (We don’t go there THAT often, but she’s a beautiful person, who chats with us and is always telling us to “sit down, my darlings”.) She gave us a complimentary ice cream to share..all diff flavours! YUM.
Afterward, we came back to the house for cuppas, and we walked around in the drizzle, with Shayla in her “gumboots”. She loved looking at the horses, climbing over fallen pine trees, scattering rose petals as she walked up the hill and spotting bunnies! Even though it was wet and chilly, it was a fun day. Happy Birthday Cam!

Mon: Work, Worco, and then a nice dinner with our friends Christine and Leslie at the in-laws house. LOTS of wonderful food and snacks and sparkling wine and port, chocolate. Mm.. good talks. It was a lot of fun and Cameron and I stayed till about 2 am, talking to Mum after the guests had left and Dad went to bed. Really lovely.

I keep meaning to call you, my family, but it’s been go-go-go. Plus I found out today that I need to put credit on my skype account… so, once I do that, I’ll call.

The big news that we haven’t publicly announced until now: As some of you already know, we’re moving at the end of this month. The landlord is selling the estate after the death of his Mother last year. It’s going to be sad to leave all this beauty..the wildlife and privacy, but we’re ready to leave. The house is beautiful, but unfinished, and in poor condition. It’s too much for Cameron and I to manage anyway.. there were problems before we moved in, and we’re ready for a place with smooth walls and much more light, and less wildlife IN the house.
In the meantime, we’ll be staying at a generous friend’s “bungalow” in his backyard. The rental situation here in Melbourne is crazy at the moment…so we’re taking it a day at a time. There is one possibility after Christmas, but that is up in the air too..

But we’re taking it in stride… things have a way of working out. Overall, we’re really happy. And behind schedule on packing, but.. we’re working at it each day… I like the fact that it’s forcing us to declutter! Effing YAY!
